PUBLIC MEETING

A crucial public meeting will take place on Monday 21st March in the Commercial Hotel, Ballinamore at 9pm to discuss the Quinn Family’s updated proposal to secure the future of Quinn Insurance and Quinn Group. Speakers include representatives of the Quinn Family and Concerned Irish Businesses. The continued success of Quinn companies is of crucial importance to the future of our community and indeed our economy. All Quinn jobs and dependent others can be saved, so come along to hear the facts, and learn what we have to do to secure Quinn and the future of our community.

BALLINAMORE DARTS

The final of the Francis McGirl Memorial Cup was played last Friday night in McGirl’s, there was a great crowd in to see what turned out to be the best final in years between last year’s winners McGirl’s and runners up Shortt’s, this time round Shortt’s just came out on top on a score line of (5) games to (4) in a thriller. Michael McGirl presented the Cup to the winning captain Richie Venton, Richie thanked all the other teams who took part in the competition. Terry Shortt thanked everyone and said he was delighted to win after (15) years trying, well done to Shortt’s, hard luck to McGirl’s. Thanks to Aughnasheelin Gun Club for their very generous sponsorship, thanks to all for supporting our raffle, also thanks to Liam for the refreshments, thanks to Connor Scollan for marking all the games. The next competition starts next Friday night the 18th of March. All pubs taken part in the competition have been giving a list of fixtures and dates.

DRAMA TROUPE

Due to previous sell-out performances, Aughawillan Drama Troupe will be back on stage for an additional two nights. Friday March 18th and Saturday March 19th. CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

The annual church gate collection on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th March in Aid of the Foreign Missions organised by the Apostolic Society. Your support would be appreciated. Thank you.

Fr. Benny Fitzpatrick and his fellow missionaries wish to thank you for your contribution of €2,115 from this parish in 2010. BENEFIT NIGHT

There will be a benefit social night in support of Teresa Brigdale Deane (ex Supervalu employee) in Commercial Hotel, Ballinamore on Friday 25 March at 9.30. Teresa lives in Miskawn and was severely injured in a car accident. She is currently a patient in St Patricks Hospital, Carrick on Shannon. Music provided. Admission is optional

ACTIVE AGE

It has been arranged for the Group to go bowling in Mulvey’s Carrick-on-Shannon at 5.00p.m on Thursday 24th March 2011. Members will car-pool at the Square, Ballinamore at 4.00p.m. If members whose names are not already on the list wish to join the Group please contact the Secretary Claire Potts at 9644945 to do so. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 23rd March in Tráthnóna a 3.00p.m. A Guest Speaker will attend.

Will be holding a meeting at 9pm Monday 14th March in the Community Centre, Ballinamore.

ATHLETIC CLUB

Some members will be involved in the All Ireland Schools and Colleges Cross Country Championships in Abbotstown this Saturday. This Sunday (13th) the first leg of the Leitrim Road League takes place in Mohill (St Manachan’s NS) at 2.00 p.m. Short races for Under 10,12,14, 17 and Senior categories with team and individual prizes. New runners particularly welcome.
