Last Saturday night the Connaught final of Scor Sinsear took place in Elphin. Bornacoola’s Louise Staunton recited “The Ballad of The Tinkers Wife” and the question time Liam Rabbit Aiden and Marie Therese Dockery were our representatives alas there was no luck this time for either of our categories but it was a good night for Leitrim qualifying in figure dancing, solo singing, instrumental music, novelty act and set dancing also taking the overall award. Well done to one and all and the best of luck in the all Ireland final which will take place in Killarney next month..

Kiltubrid were the visitors to Dromod on Sunday afternoon last as the Division 2 campaign got underway. Kiltubrid started very strong with 7points without reply and continued this right through the game coming out easy winners on a scoreline of 3.14 to 1.05. Our minors travelled to neighbours Gortlettragh in the 13 a side league on Sunday evening last here the home team came out easy winners on a scoreline of Bornacoola 1.04 Gortlettragh 3.12. The Ladies team have been in preparation over recent weeks for their upcoming league campaign which throws in on Sunday next at 1.30 pm with a first round encounter versus last year’s big rivals Ballinamore-Sean O Heslin’s in Ballinamore. Over the last two Sundays they have played very worthwhile challenge games with Aughnasheelan and our nearest Roscommon neighbours Kilglass Gaels respectively. Both games, in turn, have provided the ladies with excellent match practice in preparation for their upcoming campaign. We are indebted to both Aughnasheelan and Kilglass Gaels for travelling to Dromod to play these games and hope to return the favour later in the season. On duty over the past two weeks were Michelle Reilly, Sarah Duffy, Rachel Duignan, Niamh Reynolds, Ciara Hackett, Maeve Duffy, Cora McCauley, Joanne McGushin, Jillian Duignan, Charlotte Faughnan, Allison McKeon, Leonie Duffy, Kelly Howard, Fiona Reilly, Nadine Hackett, Sheena Faughnan, Michelle O Beirne, Sarah McWeeney, Louise Farrell, Selina Shanley, Susan Shanley, Orla McWeeney, Tanya Donnelly and Shannon Boyle. Our division 5 team have an away fixture on Sunday next with Drumreilly throw in 11.30.
Annaduff’s div 1 home game against Glenfarne/Kilty was postponed due to the wet conditions on Saturday last on Sunday the Division 3 team hosted Allen Gales, here Annaduff came out on top on a scoreline of Annaduff 2.08 Allen Gaels 1.05
