Woman killed in Curry road crash named

The woman who died in a road traffic accident on the N55 road between Longford and Kenagh on Wednesday evening, February 5, has been named.

Lisa Cullen, 29, lost her life when her car collided with another vehicle at Curry, approximately four miles from Longford town, at 6.10pm.

Three occupants of a pick-up truck were taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Ms Cullen, who was from the Edgeworthstown area, was a well-known dance teacher and Irish dancer.

Speaking to the Longford Leader today, local County Councillor Tom Victory summed up the grief being felt in the community.

“It’s a tragic loss to her family and a shock to the whole area,” he said. “She was a talented young girl who was excellent at Irish dancing and at playing Irish music.”

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact Longford Garda Station on 043 33 46266.
