A 43 year old Vietnamese national is due to appear at a special sitting of Sligo District Court at 8pm this evening, Sunday June 1 charged in relation to yesterday’s seizure of cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €300,000 (pending analysis).

As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in this region, Gardai from the Leitrim Drugs unit assisted by local units from Carrick-On-Shannon and Mohill carried out a planned search of a house at Church Manor, Carrigallen on Saturday morning.

A 43-year-old male was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Carrick–On-Shannon Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The Garda operation involved the use of advanced analytical and intelligence methods.
