Gardaí have arrested two males as part of an investigation into the murders of Dublin men Eoin O’Connor and Anthony Keegan.

It is the first breakthrough detectives have made since the pair disappeared on April 22.

Their bodies were later found by Garda divers on Inchicup Island on the shores of Lough Sheelin, which borders counties Cavan and Westmeath.

Gardai believe the men were murdered within hours of their disappearance when they attempted to recover an unpaid drug debt.

A man in his 20s is currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, at Kells Garda Station while the second suspect, aged in his 30s is being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 also at Kells Garda Station.
