Specsavers look set to open a store in Longford town in the near future after the UK-owned opticians’ chain lodged a planning application with Longford Town Council recently.
Granted last month, the application was lodged by Specsavers Longford Ltd and relates to a premises at 17 Ballymahon Street, Longford. In particular, it deals with the “erection of high level externally illuminated conservation style fascia and projecting shop signage above the existing shop front”.
Rumours of a Specsavers outlet first surfaced in September of last year. At the time a spokesman for the company said, “We are looking at establishing a Specsavers in town but the opening date is not yet confirmed”.
