Longford woman Mary Neary was the biggest winner on last Saturday’s National Lottery TV Gameshow ‘The Big Money Game’ as she captured prizes to the value of €71,000.
Having worked in Heaton’s shop in Longford for twenty-seven years, Mary retired in 2009 and with her winnings from the show she plans to look after her family.
The five contestants on the show hosted by Brian Ormond and Sinead Kennedy won €221,000 between them.
Mary is originally from Buncrana in Donegal. She lived in London for twenty years and has been in Longford for the past thirty years.
She and her husband, Michael, have two sons, John and Paul; and they have two grandsons.
Mary bought the lucky Scratch Card herself at Tesco, Longford and she was watching the show as her name was selected to appear on ‘The Big Money Game’. “I never miss it! I was delighted, excited and a little nervous after hearing my name being called out.”
In her spare time, Mary likes to spend time with her grandchildren and to get out for a walk.
Since the National Lottery was launched, over €4.2 billion has been raised for good causes. Big Money Scratch Cards are on sale countrywide, priced at €3.
