Today was a momentous day for some 640 Longford students, as the 2014 Leaving Certificate results were released.

In June of this year, 603 students sat their Leaving Certificate exams, while 37 students undertook the Leaving Certificate Applied course.

Happily, there were plenty of smiling faces emerging from the nine secondary schools in the county, with students and teachers alike celebrating great results.

Filip Bohm from St Mel’s College was thrilled with his results, admitting “I was expecting the worst!”

“I hope to go to Dublin or Maynooth to do business and finance,” he added.

Meanwhile, Principal of Lanesboro Community College, Jimmy Flanagan said, “We’re delighted with the results.”

“I want to congratulate [the students] and thank them for being such wonderful students.”
