An Edgeworthstown couple were celebrating last Monday as they were named winners of a €10,000 Wedding Package thanks to Win Our Wedding (WOW).

Laura Byrne and Brian McGlynn were surprised at their home by Elaine Whitney and David McLean, promoters of WOW, who shared the news that the lucky couple had won.

Speaking to the Leader, Laura admitted that she was still in shock, but added, “I’m delighted. I wasn’t expecting it at all!”

Thrilled by the news, Laura explained that the winning couple were to receive a house visit from WOW on Monday. Stating that she wasn’t expecting the prize, Laura laughed, saying that she was at home in her tracksuit bottoms with her niece when there was a knock at the door. There was great excitement thereafter, as friends and family gathered to help celebrate the news.

Laura and Brian, who have been together for almost nine years, got engaged in November 2012. The couple had already set a date for their wedding in June 2016, with a hotel and band already booked. Now they are looking forward to planning their dream wedding after taking first place in the competition.

Laura explained that she saw the competition on Facebook a number of weeks ago, and though she never usually enters competitions on social media, she admitted she felt “drawn to it”.

Checking back on the leaderboards each week, the couple were in first place at the beginning though they moved places throughout the process. At the last entry, they were in joint second place, and Laura stated that they didn’t think they would come first. “We obviously got loads of votes from the community, they’re fantastic,” she happily added.

“Thanks to our family, Edgeworthstown community and all our friends, near and far, who voted for us – I can’t wait to start planning,” Laura stated, extending her thanks too to Elaine and David from WOW, adding that Elaine was very good throughout the whole process. “It’s worth your while entering,” Laura smiled.

Laura and Brian are the second lucky Longford couple to win their dream wedding, after Sharena Swaris and her fiancé John Mahon won a €20,000 Wedding Package last year.

Helping couples to say ‘I Do’ to their dream weddings, the competition also helps the Irish economy, as David McLean, one of the company’s founders explains: “WOW pay all suppliers in full up to a value of €10k, provided the wedding takes place in Ireland and the suppliers are full-time professional wedding suppliers.

“This ensures the prize fund goes back into the Irish economy and especially into the Irish wedding industry.”

WOW’s next competition to win two €10,000 Wedding Packages will open later this week. To register your interest, email info@winourwedding.ie.
