For the first time since 1999, the Longford/Clondra Girl Guides were victorious in the outdoor cooking competition, held at the regional camp last weekend.

The girls attended regional camp in Lilliput, Mullingar, Co Westmeath along with other units from Longford, Leitrim, Roscommon, Galway and Offaly.

140 girls, together with leaders, spent the weekend camping on the grounds of Lilliput. For some, this was a first time experience where they learned many new skills by working as a team pitching tents and doing group activities.

The main task of the weekend was the outdoor cooking competition. The girls were allocated a budget of €15 to prepare and cook a two course meal, using two methods of cooking. There were 15 groups taking part and Longford/Clondra won the competition.

This was a great achievement, so well done to the girls and leaders involved.
