Herterich’s Artisan Butchers were celebrating at the beginning of this month as one of their products was crucial in the making of Goodall’s Ireland’s ‘Best Scone in Ireland 2014’.

Beating off stiff competition after hundreds of nominations were made, Graham Herterich, otherwise known as The Cupcake Bloke, was announced among the ten finalists in the prestigious competition.

Based in Dublin, The Cupcake Bloke is renowned for all sorts of delicious creations, and it was the unique Black Pudding and Apple savoury scones that impressed at the competition.

At the beginning of the month, The Cupcake Bloke was crowned home of the best scone in Ireland at the Merrion Hotel, Dublin. Receiving €1,000 cash, Graham also received the prestigious title.

A cousin of Longford man, Louis Herterich’s of Herterich’s Artisan Butchers, Graham sourced the black pudding for the award-winning scones from his cousin’s Longford shop, something which the business is very proud of.

Speaking to the Leader after Graham’s victory, General Manager of Herterich’s Artisan Butchers, Gary Watkins said that it was a great achievement, but not an unexpected one.

“We feel that we have the best black pudding in Ireland,” he stated, adding that they are made using a family recipe, that has been handed down through the generations.

“Customers love it, it’s a natural, handmade, genuine artisan product,” Gary concluded.
