Gardai and army bomb disposal experts are this morning (Friday) piecing together the cirumstances behind the discovery of a suspect device close to Drumlish village yesterday afternoon.

The device, which is believed to have been viable, was found close to a house in the Bohey area of Drumlish, less than half a mile from the north Longford village.

The Drumlish-Mohill road was closed for a lengthy period of time yesterday evening, but has since re-opened to traffic.

For the time being, Gardai in Carrick-on-Shannon who are leading the investigation, have stopped short of commenting publicly on the find by directing all enquiries to the Garda Press Office.

The Leader understands one avenue investigators are examining is whether the discovery can be linked to an ongoing Traveller related feud.
