Gardaí have revealed details of this year’s St Patrick’s Bank Holiday Road Safety Campaign.
The campaign will target a number of offences, including driving while intoxicated, speeding, dangerous/careless driving, failure to wear seat belts, and driving while distracted, which includes use of mobile phones and fatigue.
Additional resources will be deployed and a series of mandatory breath tests will be conducted around the clock. An element of covert enforcement will be employed in targeting dangerous driving, distraction driving, and speeding.
“We want to remind everyone using the roads this weekend to think safety and drive at a speed appropriate to road and weather conditions,” a garda spokesperson said. “Pedestrians should ensure they are visible while walking on roads and be conscious of their safety at all times.”
