Gardai have issued a renewed appeal for the public’s help in the ongoing search for missing Longford man Anthony Carberry.

The 50-year-old Lanesboro native has not been seen for two weeks with his last reported sighting coming on July 18 last.

That came on July 18 last, along a busy stretch of the N4 between Rathowen and Ballinalack.

Anthony, who is 6ft 4’ in height was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt and blue tracksuit trousers.

In the days since, gardai from both Longford and Westmeath carried out several searches of roads, the latest of which took place last Tuesday along the county border.

Investigators are particularly anxious to speak to anyone who may have noticed a lone male walking on the N4 from Mullingar to Edgeworthstown between 11.30pm on Friday July 18 and 5am the following morning.

As the search goes on, his family are praying for Anthony’s safe return.

“We just want to know that he is safe and well,” his sister, Mary Brewster told the Leader, sentiments which were echoed by her daughter, Louise.

“If people do think they have seen him please, please ring the guards straight away,” she said. “We just want to know he is okay.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Mullingar Garda station on 044-9384000, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
