For the fifth year in a row, the sun shone in Ennybegs, Killoe for the Hazelbrook Farm Ice Cream Fun Day hosted by Loretta and Arthur Stewart on May 30.

More than €1,000 in total was raised on the day, which is in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland - a cause very close to the couple’s heart, as their late son, Jack, would have had Down Syndrome.

With the local National School closed for the day, there was a steady stream of visitors throughout. Mary Corr of Step by Step playschool brought along her group of children for the day too, as well as €60 that they had raised for the fund.

Loretta also commends local girls Rian and Roisin Shaw for their contribution. The girls knitted hairbands and egg cup warmers and sold them on the day to add to the final total.

There was a bouncy castle to keep the children entertained, and facepainting was done by the talented Samantha Kelly.

Thanking her own family and Arthur’s for their continuous support, Loretta also thanks Bridget Sheridan, Gabriel Flynn, Fr Casey and Jessie Brierton for their help and support.

Stating that she is ‘absolutely delighted’ with this year’s success, Loretta adds that she is grateful to all supporters of the event over the past five years.

“Thanks to everybody that keeps supporting us every year. It means a lot to myself and Arthur.”
