Tributes are pouring in this afternoon for tragic former U21 and Longford minor star Brian Collum, who passed away suddenly yesterday (Tuesday).

Martin Mulleady, who managed the popular former Moyne CS student during his time with the county side, said the entire Drumlish community had been left shell-shocked.

“He was a right good player so he was,” said the sitting Longford County Council member, who also revealed he has stopped his own canvassing campaign as a mark of respect to the Collum family.

“People are devasated out here, especially the young crowd. Brian was a close friend to so many, something like this is very hard to take in.”

He also extended his sympathy to Brian’s devastated parents, Peter and Bernie and brothers Pete and Emmet.

“Brian was a good friend and neighbour. When something like this happens, it puts everything into perspective,” he said.
