Changes at local government level will see councillors being given a regular monthly management report, CEO Tim Caffrey announced this week.
Mr Caffrey said recently enacted legislation obliged chief executives at local authority level to prepare in-depth summaries to elected members over the course of the next five years.
He said while no specific template had been specifically earmarked, guidelines as to what should be included in monthly reports were only recently sent down by the Department of Environment.
A large slice of the new framework, he said, would focus on new budgetary processes following the abolition of town councils in May.
Another component of the changes, he added, centred largely on economic development.
The new arrangements certainly appeared to sit well with councillors, typified by the welcoming response which was given by Independent representative, Mae Sexton.
“I think it is a very good idea and will help bring every member up to speed regarding the function of the council,” she said.
