GREETINGS: Greetings and a very Happy & Peaceful New Year to all readers of these notes. We look forward to publishing more notes of interest to our district and thank this paper for their wonderful support to Streete & District.
Regretfully, due to the weather conditions during the holiday period many functions and events had to be cancelled for health and safety reasons, hopefully by the time you read this we will all be back to normal.
Bingo in Streete Parish Park every Monday at 8.30. Enjoy a night out in modern comfort.
Once again, early newspaper deadlines mean a rather brief report on the Ramblers walks, but future notes will contain accounts of their activities over the Christmas and New Year period. The Royal Canal in Mullingar was the destination for the first walk of 2011, on January 2nd, and it will be followed by Derrycassin Forest, north of Granard, on the 9th.
The Ramblers will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm on Sunday January 9th for their walk in Derrycassin and meet at the Forest at 2pm. This is an easy walk and is very popular among the group, so it would be an ideal start for anyone who would like to start the year on a healthy note and maybe shed a few of the pounds put on over Christmas.
All Ramblers are wished a Happy New Year. We hope the weather has improved and with the shortest day behind us we can look forward to another year of great walking.
