One lucky midlands man scooped the top prize in the All Cash Spectacular scratch card game after purchasing a scratch card in Longford.

The man won €200,000 on a scratch card which he purchased in Hanlon’s Filling Station in Longford when he was passing through the county.

“I was at home on Saturday night last, watching ‘Winning Streak’ as a matter of fact, when I realised that I had the scratch card in my pocket. When I scratched it, I couldn’t believe my eyes, because I thought that I’d won €20,000,” the delighted winner explained. “By the time Monday came, I was wondering if it was really the case that I had won this much money on a scratch card, so I got a friend to check it for me. She looked at the card and said: ‘That’s fantastic news – you’ve won €200,000!’ I had to sit down with the shock I got.”

Collecting his prize in National Lottery offices, the man added, “I haven’t travelled much during my life so I’d love to go on a long holiday. Australia’s always interested me so I think I’ll head there when I’ve gotten used to the idea of having this much money in the bank.”

Full report in next week’s Longford Leader.
