One talented little Drumlish girl has just danced her way into the Irish Dancing World Championships.
Ciara Rose McKeon (12) daughter of Laura and Gerard won the U-12 Leinster Championship at the Citywest Hotel last weekend and is now on her way to the prestigious World Championships which will be held in Montreal, Canada next March.
Not only will the eleven-year-old represent Longford and Leinster, Ciara Rose will also represent Ireland on the international stage during the championships next year.
Speaking to the Leader, Ciara Roses’ mother, Laura, said she was very proud of her daughter. “She has won and qualified to represent Leinster and Longford at the World Irish Dancing Championships in Montreal, Canada. This is a huge achievement for her and her county.”
Just seven other children in Ciara Roses’ age group qualified in Leinster for the World Championships in Canada - a very prestigious event with participants from all over the world including Australia, America, Europe and Taiwan. “We are all so very proud of her,” her mother continued.
Laura went on to say that her daughter had worked very hard to get to where she had, and also alluded to the fact that Ciara Rose had “natural ability” when it came to Irish Dancing.
“This is so amazing for her; she has natural ability but she worked so, so hard to get to this point,” she added. “She is very athletic and her other passions include Gaelic football and soccer - she is a natural performer.”
Ciara Rose moved to Drumlish eight years ago from New York City where she resided with her family. She has been dancing since she was five years old and is a pupil of the Tracy O’Neill School of Irish Dancing in Co Leitrim.
The Drumlish dancer also attends St Mary’s NS in Drumlish and plans to enrol at Moyne Community School next September.
The champion Irish Dancer’s Mammy, Daddy, sister, brothers, grandparents Hugh & Teresa Connolly (NY), grandparents Anna & Tommy McKeon (Leitrim), uncle Shane, uncle Gavin & Sheila and her cousins wish her all the luck in the world for March 2015!
