Longford jobs blow as Abbott seeks 29 redundancies
There was some bad news on the jobs front yesterday, as Abbott Longford confirmed that they are seeking 29 redundancies.
In a press release issued by the company, it is said that “Abbott’s diagnostic division is seeking 29 redundancies at its Longford diagnostics facility as the division discontinues manufacture of AxSYM reagents and transitions to newer, next generation technologies.”
The company anticipates that the redundancies will be “achieved on a voluntary basis”.
“The company has begun to engage with employees on the proposed redundancies.
“The company will be offering favourable redundancy terms and outplacement services will be put in place to support impacted employees.
“Longford will continue to play a key role within Abbott’s global manufacturing network.”
