Detectives are running the rule over a suspected skimming device found attached to an ATM in Edgeworthstown yesterday (Wednsesday) evening.

The alarm was raised by a customer who came across the device while trying to withdraw cash from the town’s Ulster Bank machine.

Gardai were alerted soon afterwards before it was later removed and taken away for examination.

A senior Garda source has confirmed CCTV footage from the scene is currently being viewed by investigators along with “other avenues” of inquiry.

“It was a member of the public who noticed it who alerted us,” said the source.

“It has now being examined.”

Bank customers, meanwhile, who may have used the machine in the hours leading up to yesterday’s incident are advised to keep a check on their accounts.

Anyone who suspects any suspicious activity, are urged to contact Ulster Bank without delay.
