There is great excitement in the parish of Abbeylara this week as parishioners gear up for the opening of the new parish centre.
Official proceedings kick off on June 12 next with one of Ireland’s top performers - Derek Ryan and his band - on hand to provide the musical entertainment.
Large crowds are expected to descend on Abbeylara on the night and organisers will have facilities in place so that those gathered can enjoy this very special occasion.
A licenced bar will also be available and refreshments will be served.
Mayor fundraising initiatives have been held for the last number of years by the parish centre committee to raise the much needed funds for the project.
It is the culmination of the whole parish coming together to support a common goal, so there will be much to look forward to on June 12 next in the north Longford village.
Committee member, TJ Donohoe said he was delighted with the development and he paid tribute to all those who helped bring it to fruition.
“On behalf of the Parishioners of Abbeylara I warmly welcome everyone to our new Parish Centre, which opens on June 12 with one of the top bands, Derek Ryan,” Mr Donohoe added. “We expect a very large crowd and have all the facilities to help make our parish centre a wonderful success with the help of everyone.
“There will be refreshments and a licensed bar and we hope everybody will have a great night.
“ We look forward to meeting you all.
