Bannon tightlipped on Oireachtas abortion hearings

Fine Gael TD for Longford-Westmeath, James Bannon has refused to be drawn into the debate surrounding the Oireachtas health committee’s hearings on abortion, held last week.

When contacted by the Longford Leader, he said he would “wait for the wording of any legislation to be published” before making any comment. Deputy Bannon previously stated in an interview on Matt Cooper’s ‘The Last Word’ show on Today FM that he “will never vote to legislate for abortion in Ireland.”
