Gardai seize almost €5k of cannabis plants

Almost €5,000 worth of cannabis plants were discovered by gardai this week following the search of a house in the Ardnacassa area of Longford town over the weekend.

Officers from the Divisional Drugs Unit made the discovery last Friday evening (August 24), resulting in the arrest of a man in his mid 20s.

Plants and cultivating equipment, believed to be valued at around €4,800, have since been taken away for forensic examination.

The man was later released without charge and a file is currently being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
