Man held after gardai seize €120k of cannabis
Gardaí have made their second high profile cannabis seizure in the space of two weeks, this time at a house close to Edgeworthstown.
Officers, backed up by officials from Revenue’s Customs Service discovered cannabis herb with a street value of €120,000 following a raid earlier today (Friday).
The house, which lies in the Legan area, was targeted by search teams shortly before 11am.
A 23-year-old-man was arrested at the scene and he was on Friday evening still being detained at Longford Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
The emergence of the Legan find comes just days after gardai retrieved around 114 cannabis plants from a grow house in Ballinamuck.
That seizure was estimated at €91,000, bringing the total haul of cannabis seized in Longford since the turn of the year to over €200,000.
