Gardai investigate Ballymahon thefts

A busy south Longford secondary school, hair salon and a series of private houses were all targeted by criminals last week gardai said.

In Ballymahon, a hairdressing business was broken into by thieves sometime between 5:30pm on Tuesday February 1 and 12pm on Wednesday February 2.

A quantity of equipment was taken during the raid. Less than 24 hours later, a break in at the south Longford town’s Convent of Mercy school was reported to gardai. This time, thieves made off with two laptops from an office. Gardai believe vandals smashed their way through a window between the hours of 12 midnight on February 3 and 9am the following morning when staff members turned up for work. Two private households in Ballymahon and Kenagh were also targeted with a chimney flu being taken from a Ballymahon household at around 8:30pm on February 2 while cash and electrical equipment were similarly snatched from a house in Kenagh sometime between 2am on February 5 and 1pm later that day.
