Soaring temperatures across the county have lead to the softening of tar on many roads.

Soaring temperatures across the county have lead to the softening of tar on many roads.

Local authority workers have been busy gravelling affected areas in a bid to reduce the risk of damage to roadways and vehicles.

Earlier this week Met Éireann issued a yellow alert level, intended to warn people to take preventative action against weather conditions. The current heatwave being experienced by the country is expected to last until the weekend at least.
