Longford Rugby Club was a hive of activity on Sunday, June 30, with many taking part in the family fun day in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.

There were activities for all the family at the fun day, including face painting, bouncy castle and a dog show.

Organiser Hazel Robinson, who celebrated her birthday just three days after the event, is thrilled with how it all went. “It’s the best birthday present anyone could ask for”, she laughed, adding that she had been smiling from ear to ear since.

The family fun day was part of a weekend of fundraising to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. So far, Hazel happily reports that they are close to the €3,000 mark after the weekend. Though the money is fantastic, Hazel is also delighted with the awareness that has been raised, explaining “there are so many more people who know about Cystic Fibrosis now”.

“Thanks to all our sponsors and all the people who came out and supported us” says Hazel, adding thanks to Gertrude Malone, who went “above and beyond” with her part in the fun day. “Thanks to everybody for getting behind us.”

“I’m so so proud of my community” Hazel adds. “I’m just over the moon.”
