When it was first suggested to us, that Transition Year Students would be put in full charge of the school show we replied something along the lines of “That’s not going to happen”. Little did we know mere weeks later that we, the TY students would be on the verge of putting on the biggest show the school has ever produced.
Each TY student contributed in their own way and for a period of three months the Mercy Ballymahon TY’s became working adults. Production jobs were advertised and letters of application and CV’s were sent to the office for consideration. A selection were chosen for interview and from there the posts designated. The aim was to create a ‘real world’ environment where students would have to list their acomplishments and personal skills and then sell themselves in an interview situation.
I received the post of Managing Director with a team of assistants allocated to different departments e.g. PR, Production, Marketing, Choreography, Stage Management etc. We set to work- advertising, bringing in sponsorship money and distilling the cream of the school’s talent into one incredible show.
The show is entitled D’Switch – ‘A Variety Show with a Twist’.
This not to be missed show will run for three nights on the 6th 7th & 8th of December 2012. The tickets cost €7 for a child €10 for an adult and €15 for a VIP ticket. VIP’s will be greeted with a cheese and wine reception (Tea, Coffee, finger food and soft drinks will also be available!) and a chance to talk with family and friends. All VIP’s will be given a complimentary program and raffle ticket before they are escorted straight to the best seats in the house where they will enjoy the show in comfort.
Tickets are available at the school office Tel : 090 64 32267 and can be bought on the door. Book early to avoid disappointment.
We hope to see you all there!
