There has been a decrease in Longford planning commencements, according to the fifth National Housing Construction Index complied and issued by Link2Plans (www.link2plans.com).

According to this latest information, researchers at www.link2plans.com have examined every housing construction planning application and planning commencement in Co Longford from January to October 2012 and figures are down when compared to the same period last year.

“The Link2Plans research show that from January to October 2012 the planning figures are still down compared with last year,” Managing Director, Links2Plans Danny O’Shea stated. “The last Index showed a 5% drop in planning applications in Longford and in this Index that has fallen to 1%.”

There has also been a noted decrease from 4% in the last Index to 18% in the latest index, regarding the number of projects that have commenced. Nationally there has been a fall of 9% in planning commencements and an 18% fall in planning applications, clearing indicating that Longford’s fall in planning commencements is higher than the national trend.
