Cllr Luie Mc Entire (FF) has forwarded an important notice of motion for discussion at the May meeting of Longford County Council proposing that the 15% allocation sanctioned by the Minister for the Environment for local improvement schemes be put into operation immediately. “There is a general outcry from people living down private lanes in the rural part of Co Longford that are unable to have their roads repaired,” the local area representative added. “I am also requesting that any further allocation forthcoming from government this year be used specifically for local improvement schemes.
In relation to the public bus service from Cavan to Longford Cllr McEntire also informed the Longford Leader that he has been working in collaboration with the National Transport Authority (NTA). “In accordance with EU regulation the NTA has put the service out for e-tender, the closing date of which has been extended to the end of May,” he said, adding “pending the level of interest in the service a final decision will then be made”.
