Towns and villages throughout Co Longford have been urged to begin making preperations ahead of this year’s National Tidy Towns Awards.

The call was made by Longford Co Cllr Martin Mulleady, who advised all prospective entrants to make contact with their local area engineer from Longford Co Council for the purpose of having their roads cleaned.

Cllr Mulleady also advised locals to work closely with local tidy towns groups in the lead up to inspections over the coming weeks.

Sponsored by SuperValu, the competition involves participating areas being rated on all aspects of their local environment and prizes awarded to the best entrants under many different categories.
