Last Thursday evening, thieves made off with a set of domestic tools after targeting an unlocked garage in the Cahanagh area of Longford town. Nothing else was taken during the raid as gardai look to track down those responsible as well as the return of the stolen items which are valued at €400.

A doctor's surgery on New Street was also targeted by criminals over the past seven days. The front windows of the office were smashed and the office ransacked during the incident which occurred sometime between 5pm on January 20 and 7am on January 22.

On Monday, burglars struck again at Cahanagh, this time at a private residence culminating in the theft of a 42' television and Playstation Three, the total value of which is estimated at €1100. The incident is believed to have taken place from 8:30am to midday.

Similarly, in nearby Ardnacassa opportunist thieves stole a blackberry phone from an unlocked car between 10 and 10:30am. When the owner returned to the car, they noticed the phone had been taken.
