Badminton: Congratulations to the Carrickedmond ladies badminton team who made history last week when they became the first ladies badminton team from the parish to win a competitive league match by beating Mullingar ladies in the midland badminton league.
This was a great achievement by the ladies team taking into account that the team only came together at the start of this year's badminton season. Members of the team included Frances Esler, Kathryn Keenan, Ann Keenan, Laura Byrne and Nula Flynn. Well done girls. The men's team were defeated by Moyvore last week however the lads performed well and can look forward to their next game with confidence.
All interested are reminded that badminton club activities continue in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond on the following nights and times. Wednesday nights from 8pm to 11pm for adults and on Friday evenings from 7.30pm to 8.30pm for kids and from 8.30pm to 10pm for juniors. For more information contact Seamus Mc Cormack at 087-96466090.
On Thursday evening last Fr Tiernan's house was broken into at around 8pm. The intruders gained entry after breaking a glass window at the rear of the house. A small amount of money was taken. If anyone saw anything suspicious around the church area on Thursday evening last they are asked to contact the Longford gardai. Everyone is reminded to take extra care at this time when leaving your home and to watch out for any unusual activity around your area.
Please remember to keep used stamps and place them in the box located and marked "Used Stamps" at the rear of the Carrickedmond church. These stamps will be collected and used by missionary groups who make a small amount of money by selling them to stamp dealers.
It is hoped to start a drama group in the parish in the coming weeks with a view to staging a play in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond in the coming months.
