BINGO

Carrigallen bingo season coming to an end. Only one more Sunday night for the very popular Carrigallen Bingo season which ends on the 30th January 2011. After that date it will be leaving Carrigallen and our good neighbours Arva will be taken over for the next six months which is commencing in Saint Patrick's Hall Arva on the Sun 6th Feb. This season Carrigallen had to call off the Sunday Bingo on a number of occasions due to the snow storm and treacherous roads. The committee are asking parishioners to come out in large numbers for the last one Sunday nights to a well heated community centre and go home with lots of money which has become very useful now.

Drumeela Active Age

Carrigallen and Drumeela Active Age celebrated the Christmas season in style recently by holding their annual Christmas dinner this year in Mitchell's restaurant, Carrigallen. Over 40 members and guests attended and enjoyed a wonderful meal provided by Patrick and his staff. This was an evening to catch up with old friends tell a few jokes, reminisce a little and a lot more besides. Conversations around the table covered everything from the economy and how to put it right. To suggestions for locations to consider for further outings and short breaks in 2011. As always the group showed its appreciation to Elizabeth our dedicated and hard working secretary for organising such a successful evening and concluded with a hearty rendition of happy birthday for her special day.

The winner of the card game Brian Gormley who kindly donated his 50 euro prize money back to the fund Eamon Gray who came 2nd donated his prize of a bottle of brandy also to the fund. At the end of the night Sean Reilly extended his thanks to all who left their warm comfortable homes to attend this very worthy cause in terrible weather conditions. The card players sponsors and all who bought tickets on the night to bring the grand total to 460 euro which we hope will make someone's life a little easier in the care of the North West Hospice.
