GAA Club Draw Tickets are now on sale throughout the parish for the 2011 club draw. There is €400 per month in prize money made up of : 1st prize €150 ; 2nd prize €100 and 3 prizes of €50 each.
To coincide with the January draw we are having a once off €1000 x 2 in extra prizes for that draw only. There is only the one ticket this year costing €50 which amounts to €1 per week approx., and as this is our main fundraiser for the year we appeal to everyone in the parish for support. As we are running a bit late with tickets the January draw will take place as early as possible in February.
It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Mel Sorohan of Breanross South on Friday, January 21st. His remains were removed from his residence on the Tuesday to St Mary's Church, Gortletteragh and received by Rev. John Quinn. After his funeral mass on Wednesday Mel was laid to rest in Gortletteragh cemetery. A very large crowd came to the removal and funeral to pay their respects to a well known and liked man. We offer our heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Rosaleen, daughters Caroline and Emma, brothers Henry, Kevin and Seamus, sisters Mai, Dympna and Nuala, relatives and friends. We will remember the Sorohan family in our prayers. God grant them the strength they need at this time of great personal loss. May he rest in peace.
