Lotto: No winner of the lotto for e15,000. The numbers drawn were 7, 24, 26, and 27.
There was one 3 number winner and that was Martin Fitzmaurice. The numbers drawn for the second jackpot of €3450 were 6, 7, 18 and 23. There was no winner of the jackpot. There were four 3 number winners, Eiryn Wallace, Lily O'Connor, Lisa Fulham and Niamh Kiernan. Rathowen lotto now at €15,000 & €3,600. There will be changes in place for the draw of 24th January 2011.
The RCD have decided to remove the option of the 3 number winners and replace it with three envelopes to be drawn out of the drum on each draw and for the ticket holders to win €30 each. This means that you are in with a chance to win €30 even if you don't have any of the winning numbers drawn. The RCD feels this is a fairer option and many other local lotto committees follow this template. Along with the sellers prize there will be a set amount of €210 paid out of the lotto sales (if the jackpots are not won!!!!).
The next draw is 24th January 2011 and this draw will have two jackpots one for €15,000 and the next for €3,600. The results of that draw will be printed next week. The RCD have capped €15,000 jackpot and set up another jackpot which will increase every draw if not won. Your €2 ticket will be entered into both draws. Thank you to all who buy a ticket, you are helping to support local projects and the next big project is to develop the rest of the RCD field into a community park.
Tickets can be brought in Sexton's Shop, Rathowen Post Office, Connaughtons Pub and Feericks Hotel, along with several people selling. If you would like to sell a book please contact Peter or Liz on 6676189. It's worth buying a ticket and remember if you're not in you can't win.

We would like to extend deepest sympathy to Gerry Moran (Killenaugh, Rathowen) on the death of his wife Bernadette Moran (nee Rock). Bernadette died on Wednesday last and was removed to Rathowen church on Friday and funeral mass was Saturday with burial in Boherquill. Bernadette leaves behind five children, Margaret, Lily, Gerard, Sarah Jane and Julie Ann. The community was deeply shock with her sudden death and it was shown by the very large crowds who turned up at the wake in the house and removal and funeral. May she rest in peace.
To book the community centre you can contact Peter or Liz on 043-6676189. To book the Community Centre for an event you are asked to give at least 4 weeks notice, and don't plan your event ahead before the community centre is booked as the centre is used all the time and please don't presume the date is free!!!
