A hairstylist from Bunlahy is among the finalists competing in the finals of one of the industry’s most prestigious competitions, which takes place in London next Monday night.

Ciara Brady, who works at Yourells Hair Salon in Galway, will compete in the Young Talent Category at the Wella TrendVision Awards in London after progressing from the Irish heats.

“I’m flying out on Sunday,” Ciara explained.

“There’ll be rehearsals on that day before the competition takes place on Monday.”

“We could choose from two storyboards in the brief. The themes were ‘Journey of Enlightenment’ for Spring-Summer and ‘New Frontier’ for Autumn-Winter, which is the one I chose.”

Ciara, who is a daughter of Finbar and Deirdre Brady, said the contestants will be given some time to prepare beforehand, but once the competition begins they will have three hours to devise a look for their models.

“It has to be a complete look from head to toe. It has to be quite a transformation and it has to relate to the theme I’ve chosen.

“We’ll then have to make presentations, outlining why we chose the brief and explain the concept behind the look.

“In the evening there will be a gala dinner with a drinks reception and inspiration shows, where the winners will be announced.”

This year’s Wella Trend Vision Awards feature a new People’s Choice category, which Ciara is also included in. To vote, visit http://www.wella.com/professional/en-UK/trendvision/people-choice.
