N4 by-pass crash leads to long tailbacks

One person was taken to hospital following a two car collision along Longford town’s main N4 by-pass last Friday evening, writes Liam Cosgrove.

Their injuries were described as non life threatening by gardai on Monday.

The crash took place at Lisnamuck, close to the Ballinalee Roundabout, at around 3pm.

A number of fire engines attended the scene, resulting in the road being closed off for a period of time.

There were lengthy tailbacks entering Longford from the main Edgeworthstown exit and along the Dublin Road following the accident .

Separately, gardai were also called to the scene of a minor collision at Deerpark, just outside Newtownforbers on Monday.

No injuries were reported following the accident which occurred shortly before 9am.
