Planning permission seeking the construction of over 250 new houses is being sought by Laragan Land and Property Ltd in Longord town.

In an application received by Longford Town Council’s planning department earlier this month, ASE design consultants on behalf of Laragan Land and Property Ltd, have applied for 251 new houses and a creche at Abbeycartron and Aghedegnan.

The location for the proposed development is close to White Linen Woods.

That estate, one of 114 incomplete developments identified by local authority officials in 2011, has been one of approximately 18 estates where council workers have carried out improvement works. A search of the Companies Registration Office (CRO) by this newspaper found Laragan Land and Property Ltd, the firm behind the new planning application, went into receivership in August 2009.

The planning file in Longford Town Council shows that the €17,970 application fee for the development. has been paid. A decision is due on the project on September 25.
