Latest figures show the Longford/Roscommon Division is the safest Garda region in the country.
Longford, it seems, is the safest county in the country.

Longford, it seems, is the safest county in the country.

That’s almost 40 per cent below the national average and more than double the number recorded in Ireland’s newly crowned crime capital-Dublin.

The figures, contained in an extensive Irish Examiner survey released today, showed much of the region’s crime drop was down to a fall-off in robberies.

Recorded offences of this type remain at just 0.49 per 10,000 population, meaning a person is 30 times more likely to be a victim of such an offence in Dublin as they are in either Longford or Roscommon.
