The Moran family from Legan are desperately seeking their 10-month-old Shetland collie dog, Brandy (pictured right), who went missing in The Mall in Longford town earlier this month. Brandy recently appeared in the Leader’s ‘On the Net’ section, when he was photographed reading a copy of the paper.
“We were walking him in The Mall and I was bringing him back to the car because he was feeling very uneasy,” said Avril Moran.
“I was handing him over to my mother when he just ran off.”
Since he went missing on March 3, the Morans have placed posters around the area and have received several calls from people who have spotted Brandy, with most sightings being reported between Melview and Ennybegs. “Most of the calls seem genuine because they say they’ve seen a Shetland collie with a red collar and chain, which matches his description,” Avril admitted. “We’re having no luck finding him yet, but we’re getting a lot of calls.”
Unfortunately, some of those calls have been hoaxes. “I had a call earlier from a group of women who were messing around and had their dog barking down the phone,” Avril admitted.
With the Morans now increasingly eager to find Brandy, they are offering a substantial reward to anyone who finds him. “We don’t know what else we can do at this stage. It’s tough on our other dogs, too. We have another Shetland collie, Lassie, who’s 13 and she spends the the whole day looking for Brandy now.”
