Longford Garda Station are appealing for witnesses in relation to a number of burglaries which took place throughout County Longford recently.
This included four homes in the Newtowncashel and Ballymahon areas from which copper piping and cylinders were stolen, while properties in Newtownforbes, Abbeyshrule and Longford town were also targeted.
Copper cylinders and piping were removed from two homes in Bornavera, Newtowncashel between the hours of 6pm on Saturday, November 3rd and 12pm on Saturday 3rd. A similar incident also took place on Kelly’s Green, Main Street, Ballymahon between 6pm on Sunday, November 4th and 2pm on Tuesday 6th when intruders entered the house via the roof. A home in Oakvale in Longford town was broken into between the hours of 2.30am and 3am on the morning of Friday last, November 9th. The intruder entered the property through a rear window but was disturbed by the occupants and escaped.
Gardai are also searching for anyone who may have witnessed the theft of a jewellery box worth V300 which was taken from a house in Cloghan, near Abbeyshrule between the hours of 9am and 6pm on Wednesday, November 7th. A home in Springlawn in Longford town was ransacked between the hours of 8am on the morning of Tuesday, November 6th at 8am and Wednesday 7th at 10.30am. An intruder gained entry through the back window of a house in the area and lifted three bracelets belonging to the home owners.
Meanwhile, a chair and couch were removed from a private residence in Church Lands, south of Longford town between the hours of 10pm on Tuesday, November 6th and 10am on Wednesday 7th.
