There was heavy rain overnight in many parts of Longford and as a result many roads are flooded this morning. Flood warning signs have been erected in Longford town and motorists are advised to take care.
According to Met Eireann, the band of heavy rain that has engulfed parts of the country will continue to move northwards. Drier weather will follow with some sunny spells and also scattered thundery showers. It will be warm and humid with temperatures reaching around 16 degrees in Co Longford.
Those of you planning to attend the Killashee BBQ tomorrow night will be advised to bring the water gear and wrap up well because temperatures tomorrow will reach around 14 degrees in Longford and scattered heavy showers are set to continue. The good news is that there is plenty of indoor space at St Brigid’s GAA, organisers say the bar is well-stocked and the burgers will certainly warm you up!
Those bound for Pearse Park on Saturday for the Longford Derry match will also need the warm gansais because temperatures are due to only scale the dizzy heights of 12 or 13 on that day, according to Met Eireann. There will be passing heavy showers on the day as well but die hard GAA fans are well accustomed to these conditions so it’ll be like water off a duck’s back, if you’ll excuse the pun.
