A brave shop owner courageously fought off a knife-wielding raider in a botched robbery attempt in north Longford on Sunday evening.

Petrol station owner, Declan Corrigan said he was still trying to come to terms with the ordeal after a masked man ran into Corrigan Fuel Services station in Moyne before lunging at him with a knife.

The incident, which was all captured on CCTV and seen by the Leader this week, clearly shows one of the men entering the store just after 7pm armed with what appears to be a kitchen knife.

Wearing a beige hoodie to conceal his identity, the raider then makes a dart for the front counter where Mr Corrigan can be seen dealing with a customer.
