RONAN'S RECORDING: Ronan Gallagher from Lough Rynn has been quite busy in the recording studio over the past few weeks putting the final touches to his own version of the Irving Berlin classic, White Christmas.
Ronan has done it for a very good cause, that of raising some money to help purchase computers for the new Cystic Fibrosis Unit, which is soon to be built at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin. The single can be previewed and downloaded at www.arkade.com/whitechristmas and costs Euro 1.50. Ronan has a target of 2000 downloads before Christmas and he is seeking your support for this very worthy cause by downloading the song.
His version of the song sounds brilliant.
Well done Ronan.
It was with great sadness that we learned of the untimely death of Michael Cunningham of Drimmeen on Saturday, December 4th after a short illness. Michael passed away at his residence in the care of his family. He had been ill since earlier this year and spent most of the intervening time in hospital. He bore his illness with great courage. His remains were removed on Sunday evening to St Mary's Church, Gortletteragh and received by Rev. John Quinn PP. Michael's coffin was draped with Leitrim and Gortletteragh jerseys. Michael played with the Leitrim over 40s and played all his life with the Gortletteragh club. He captained the Intermediate team that won the championship in 2003. The club was joined by many from around the county in a guard of honour at Michael's removal and funeral. After requiem mass on Monday he was laid to rest in Cloone cemetery. We offer our heartfelt sympathy to his wife Emer, to his little children Rhia, Chloe, James, Ryan, Maia and Ben, brothers Sean and Paul, sisters Myra and Helen, relatives, friends and neighbours on their great loss. We will think of the Cunningham family in our prayers. Ar dheis D go raibh a anam.
