CHRISTMAS 2010: On Saturday night last with the blessing of the crib and the switching on of the Christmas lights Mohill town came alive with the sound of the carol singers who were in full voice and a joy to hear.

The Town was seasonably decorated with Chritsmas trees , beautiful shop windows alight with their gifts and all the nice goodies associated with Christmas ladies & gents can get that new look.

ST PATRICK'S CHURCH

There will be a special penance service in St Patrick's Church on Wednesday 22nd December at 7pm at which a number of priests will be available. It is the best opportunity to make your Christmas confessions, penance services on Monday 20th in Aughavas at 7pm and in Gortletteragh at 8pm and on Tuesday 21st in Foxfield at 7pm and Cloone at 8pm. There will be a special celebration of carols in St Patrick's Church on Sunday next 19th December. Voluntary contributions will be welcome with proceeds going to the Vincent de Paul. Every little helps.

DANCE AND MUSIC NIGHT

An international dance and music night will be taking place in the Canon Donohoe Hall on this coming Thursday 16th December at 8.30pm and admission is free. The extent will include spectacular displays of dancing from different parts of the world, along with performances from our own local musicians and dancers. Do come along , all are welcome. CHRRISTMAS 25 CARD

25 Card Game on this Friday night 17th December. There will be a 25 card game in 'Cusacks' Main Street. There will be prizes for all finalists. All card players welcome.

BRIDGE CLUB

Owing to the uncertain weather conditions there will be no bridge here in Clarkes until after Christmas when we will have our prize night. In the meantime have a very nice Christmas and a new year filled with joy and every blessing.

GRATITUDE

Canon B Atkins and parishioners of St Mary's parish Mohill are most grateful to everyone in the community and surrounding area who kindly contributed to their Chriistmas sale and bazaar held in the Hunt Memorial Hall Mohill on Friday night last December 10th. Thanks to everyone who gave generous gifts and subscriptions, attended on the night and purchased tickets for the draw. The winners of the special draw were 1st prize 300 euro won by Dr A Dolan, Mohill; 2nd prize of 150 euro won by Monika c/o Esquires Carrick on Shannon; 3rd prize of 100 euro won by Maura Mahon, Rosduan, Mohill; 4th prize bottle of brandy won by Seamus Duignan, Cloone Road Mohill; 5th prize bottle of whiskey won by Frankie McHugh, Drumdoney, Cloone. Again sincere thanks to all who contributed to the success of this event.

MICHAEL CUNNINGHAM

The death of Michael Cunningham Drimmien Mohill on the 4th December 2010 in the loving care of his family at his residence has caused widespread regret in the whole community. Michael had been ill for some time with an illness necessitating many painful treatments which he bore with courage and fortitude. He died as he lived with dignity. His burial took place on Monday last following requiem Mass in St Mary's Church Gortletteragh to Cloone new cemetery. Our deepest sympathies are with his wife Emer children , brothers, Sean and Paul, sisters Myra and Helen, brothers in law, sisters in law aunt uncles and their extended family.

MOHILL BRIDGE CLUB

Owing to the bad weather conditions there was no bridge last week. Fingers crossed all our members will be able to travel this Wednesday night for bridge in Clarkes commencing at 7.45pm.
