ROYAL CANAL: A DVD recording the opening of the Royal Canal last September will be launched in Newmans lounge on this Friday December 17 at 8.30pm. This DVD is a top quality production and is a very good record of the ceremonies at Mosstown harbour Killashee and Clondra.

It would make a very good Christmas present especially to people living overseas. Copies are limited and are very good value at ten euro. All the amenity groups are invited to attend , refreshments will be served. Music by Tony Moran.

BIRTHDAY

Congratulations and best wishes to Cyril Connor who celebrated his fiftieth birthday last weekend with a big bash in Leaveys of Foigha which was attended by his many friends and relatives . We also congratulate Cyril on being elected as development officer for Longford GAA county board last Thursday night. Cyrl has been an active GAA man all his life and has contributed a lot of his talent and energy to promoting the game at both parish and county level.

COI SERVICES

The following services will be held over the Christmas period in Ardagh group of parishes. All welcome. Sunday December 12th carol service in Tashinny Church at 11.30am; Sunday December 19th carol service in Kenagh Church at 11.30am; Christmas Eve. Holy communion in Tashinny church at 7pm. Holy communion in Kenagh church at 9pm Christmas Day: Holy Communion in Ardagh Church at 10am, Holy Communion in Ballymahon Chuch at 11.30am; Sunday after Christmas (December 26th): Service of bible readings and carols in Ballymahon Church at 11.30am. Private Holy Communion for Christmas to the elderly and the housebound and to those in nursing homes will be administerd during the two weeks prior to Christmas day by the rector.

CHRISTMAS TREE

Kenagh and district Development Association had their annual switch on ceremony at the clock tower last Saturday night. The switch on ceremony was attended by committee members parents and children. Refreshments were served afterwards in O'Boyles lounge.

PROGRESSIVE

Winners in Saint Dominics Centre last Thursday night were Bill & Pete, Ivan and Larry 10 games each. They share 120 euro. Table prizes Packie and Berney, Mary and Mary. They win twenty euros each. Raffle winners Packie Feeney, Eugene Kelly, Kathleen Maguire, Mick Duignan, Bernie Smith and Pete Hanley all won ten euro each. Next Thursday night will be the last night at the cards before Christmas.

WEDDING

Congratulations and best wishes to Aine Fallon, Lislea and Michael Jameson Churchland Ballymacormack who were married in Saint Dominics Church Kenagh on Saturday last December 11th. The wedding cermony was performed by Father Tom Barden assisted by Father Pierre Pepper PP Banagher. Chief bridesmaids were Mary Flynn and Miriam Walshe. Best man was David Casey and groomsman was Gerard Lennon. Church music was rendered by the lane sisters and Sean Sweeney. Flowers and candles were arranged by Mary Moran. The reception was held in the Park Hotel Mullingar which was attended by a large gathering of neighbours , relatives and friends. We wish the happy couple many years of wedded bliss.

DEATHS

The death occurred last Wednesday December 8th of Mrs Maura Higgins Church View Lanesboro and formerly of Cartronbrack Kenagh at Roscommon hospital. Maura who was in her eightieth year had been ill for some time before he death. She had lived in Cartronbrack with her late husband Tommy for over thirty years before moving to live with her daughter Margaret about twelve years ago. She is survived by her sons Michael , David , Pat and Seamus and her daughters Marion and Margaret, sister Ann , grandchildren, daughters in law and sons in law to whom we offer our sympathy. She was buried in Kilcommock cemetery after funeral Mass in Lanesboro last Saturday. We also offer our sympathy to Bill Rogers Ards o the death of his sister Maureen which occurred in England.

LOTTO

The numbers drawn in Kenagh GAA Lotto were 3, 6, 14, 17. There was one match three winner Anthony Casey, Ballymacorack wins 75 euro. Next draw in El Paso on Dec 19.
