Anniversary joy with 
surprise renewal of vows

Krzysztof Kulisz had a special surprise for his wife, Ewa, when the couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Longford town recently.

To mark their silver wedding anniversary, Krzysztof secretly arranged a ceremony to renew their marriage vows - with Ewa only learning of the plan at the last moment.

“He organised it all without mum knowing,” said the couple’s daughter, Ola, who was on hand with her sister Joanna to witness the occasion. “I helped with some things, but he basically organised it all himself.

“All along my mum thought she was going to a friend’s surprise birthday party. When she was being brought to the church, she thought everyone else was also being blindfolded as part of the surprise.”

The ceremony took place at St Mel’s Cathedral Centre in Longford town, with Fr Krzysztof Pranowski presiding.

“It turned out to be more like an actual wedding than just a renewal of vows,” Ola admitted.

Krzysztof and Ewa have lived in Longford for over 10 years, having moved to the area from Poland.

“About 20 friends and family members travelled over for the renewal of vows,” Ola revealed. “Everyone was waiting for her in the church. And afterwards we all headed to Seasons above the Market Bar for food and a party.”
